I had my ears checked and even though I am certain I have lost registers of hearing, they say my ears are fine. It took almost an hour just to get that test taken. Had to wait another half hour to see the doc, then had a whole ten minutes with him for him to tell me that I just have BPPV. He peeked into my ears and nose and mouth…that was it. Didn’t seem to have time to answer questions, didn’t even consider any other options. Any I did ask he brushed aside.

I already got that diagnosis from my oncologist over a month ago. So more money wasted.

Nothing else to be done unless I have one of those nasty Epley maneuvers again. With my back the way it is, I politely declined. (This guy seems to be a fan of the gal who did the last one that tragically caused me to have ectopic heartbets for a whole day afterwards.) I’m really angry that I was given zero encouragement to ask the questions I had for him about the symptoms I have that he didn’t even cover. I was rushed through, passed off and then charged over $600.

He didn’t even offer to buy me dinner for that.

I’ve never had a doctor treat me so callously. If the hearing test didn’t include something that would tell them if I had a tumor on my nerves (which was negative) I would feel completely *****ed over.

Sorry, just wanted to vent. I guess I just get to wait until this ‘condition’ decides to right itself. If ever.

And at the end of this month I get to go for my checkup with my onco to probably tell me I’m still in remission and get charged almost another grand. Where is it all supposed to come from??

Today has SO been a Monday.

That’s pretty much how I feel every time I leave the doctor: frustrated. We don’t pay for our doctors, so it’s hard to complain (although we pay lots and lots of taxes, so we do pay, just not directly). But you are paying for his time, so he should answer your questions. It’s the whole “delicate genius” thing, right?

Having been a cancer patient, I am pretty much out of luck when it comes to health insurance, so I get to waste what’s left of my limited savings on stuff like this. Odd, I now realize the nurse only asked me what I was allergic to, what I was currently taking and what I did for a living…since I’m a stay at home mom that would be…nothing. They did drop one of the hearing tests while I was in the booth, I heard them say so…probably too expensive for that particular 2 minutes…guess I should be thankful.
I do wonder if I am basically seen as a ‘whiner’ since I am going in for what could be seen as ‘minor’ complaints compared to my primary disease. The cancer’s going to wind up getting me in the end, so I should just be happy I’m still here and suck it up. *grumble*

Sorry, don’t mean to grouch so much, but the way the ‘establishment’ just finds ways to part the basic person from their money is maddening and I’m really bitter about it at the moment. There was a gal in there with TWO cellphones waiting to see the doc who paid for her visit with some kind of stickers…aren’t those things supposed to be for people who can’t afford cell phones? Come to think of it…everyone had fancy cell phones…I just got mine this year and I may have to reconsider it even though it was a gift, it just costs too much.

And there goes some of the money I was planning to use to fix my PC. arghhhh gripegripegripe

Thanks everyone. Sorry again about complaining.
It’s good to have friends one can take their troubles to.

If you can’t complain on the internet, then where can you? Complain away all you want, it sucks when Drs treat you like crap then charge a ton for it. When I was ill and uninsured for a while, I swear the more a Dr charged the less he treated me like I mattered. The Drs who treated me the best were great about charging me only what the insurance company actually paid them and not what they billed the insurance company for.

                      ((hug))

(((Hugs))) Gripe away! I think it’s understandable to get bitter about the whole medical world when you have chronic problems and shelling out money you don’t necessarily have and……GETTING NO ANSWERS!!! So I feel your pain! Stupid doctors! lol

Do you guys in the US get to switch your doctor if you don’t like them since you are paying for them? Here, you are lucky if you have a family doctor or specialist, and if you don’t like them tuff. I currently have a doctor who thinks I’m paranoid and doesn’t listen to me. Wait lines are INSANE here to get to see any doctor or specialist. To get an ultra-sound or any tests it takes like half a year.
