  I noticed my bunny has been itching and licking herself quite a lot these days. So while I was giving her her daily pet rub, I decided to look at one of the areas where she scratches. To my surprise, I found this weird yellow thing attached to the root of her fur, and when I took a closer look to see, I wasn’t able to notice any sort of bug. She’s been worrying me all week and if anyone can identify what it is that’d be great!

  It could perhaps be a scab from a fur mite infestation. I remember my Bam had scabs kind of like that when I first got him and he had fur mites. Do you see any sort of dandruff in her fur?
  
  Fur mites are so tiny you can’t see them with the naked eye, and they’re often difficult to find even in a skin scraping/tape test. So many vets choose to treat with Revolution (Selamectin) or ivermectin on a “just-in-case-basis”. Those meds are both very bunny safe and effective.
  
  We always issue a warning against Fipronil (sold as Frontline, Sentry and other names) whenever skin parasites are suspected. Fipronil is deadly toxic to rabbits, we’ve had reports of really bad incidents here, so that’s why we always warn.

  It looks like a bug. You should consult an animal doctor soon.
