These videos are by Amy Spintman – she started the disabled rabbits list.  Of course she makes these look SO easy because she has lots of experience.

This one is her technique for expressing a rabbits bladder – I do Twizzler’s a little differently but going to try this technique too:

This one is her technique for giving medication:

Wow  Cotton would never sit still for his meds.  HE would box grunt and bounce up n down on his hind legs.

            That is one cool bunny.

I vote a sticky! That was amazing!! Never have seen a rabbit’s bladder expressed before -now at least I have a better idea! Maybe I’ll work up the nerve to try it with Little-Bit some time.

              Gosh Jack sure is well-behaved!

Angelicvampyre you would express the bladder if the rabbit has sludge in order to help them pass their urine. Sludge is very thick and rabbits with sludge may need their bladder expressed to help them pass their urine.

Also rabbits who are disabled may not have good control, so expressing the bladder can help cut down on urine burns from lying in their own pee.

She made it look so easy to give meds to her bunny. Dusty is like Cotton. She just wouldn’t sit still, let alone let me stick something in her mouth other than a banana. I’m having to give Chilly and Dusty meds for coccidia right now and could use some pointers as to the best way to squirt the thick liquid in their mouth.
