Social Media Wackiness

As I have mentioned to y’all previously, i am trying to be more social. This includes figuring out social media.

So first off, here is how you can find me:

I’m attempting to figure out Digg, Pintrest, Stumble and Kaboodle but, am not there yet. Anyone?

Second here is my take on the two biggies:

Twitter – I know a lot of people don’t “get” twitter. But, it is really quite simple. Twitter is all about links.
Yea, there are people who tweet things like “I just went to target and got TP!” but, no one follows them.
I follow and, am followed mostly by, craft people. So, we all tweet about crafty things, articles we read about craft business, craft markets, tutorials and we add links to the tweets. It’s about helping each other out.
Okay, I do occasionally tweet about what Kay & Winston are doing. But, I reckon everyone is interested in that!

Facebook – I have mostly been posting things on Facebook that I just think are fun. You know: “Hi, what is up? Check out this goofiness.”

I am not too crazy about social media. I joined facebook back when it was open to just college students for fun and to keep in contact with friends from different schools easier. I still use it daily to keep in touch with people, plan events, and what not.

I have a myspace, but I have not checked into it in probably close to a year. I really should get rid of it. I don’t care enough to join the other social medias out there. And I think “twittering” sounds like something dirty.

I’m not really crazy about social media but, I am trying to run a business. When I tweet or post to my blog – I get more people looking at my blog and Etsy shop.
And the jurors at the craft fairs notice these kinds of things.
It really does help my little crafty business. That I like!

Ooooo What do you have on Etsy? I love to browse there from time to time. When I get some time to produce my knit dog coats, I might post some on there.

Oy my facebook link is stupid. Ok if you want to find me, look for an Amanda Popp in michigan, and my dog is my profile pic. I am not worried about my personal name being on the web, I used to do my own business, so my name is pretty out there already.

I think Jerz and I are the last two holdouts on the FB scene. I just can’t feel comfy with it myself.
Y’all can always find me here. In future I may open an Etsy shop if I can use it to help reduce my voluminous second hand items that are too nice to put in a garage sale, plus I want to begin painting again or taking nice wilderness photos to sell. We’ll see how many plates I can juggle.
I applaud those who can manage the ‘new social’ …for me it’s daunting.

Actually I find it totally daunting, too.
I cant figure out what some of the sites are about. Even when I read about how to use them.

My Etsy shop is all needle felting. Some cute critters and hearts and such. The Name of my shop is Victoria’s Hearth – you can search for it. I don’t feel like it is Kosher for me to give the link.

I will be loading up the shop over the next week. I have applied for a Holiday market and the Judges are going to be looking at websites the week of the 26th. I’m totally nervous and want my shop to look really good. Wish me luck.
