Hey all, first post here so I hope I have set it up correctly!

We have had some pretty rough weather here the last few days in the UK. My bunnies are outdoor buns and in the cold weather, I spent lots of time reheating snuggle pads, changing their water and fluffing up their bedding. Both rabbits ate and drank well, and seemed to particularly enjoy drinking lukewarm water as i put it down. On a particularly cold evening, i thought they might appreciate something warm to eat too (warm belly- warm body right?) so i mixed a little warm water with some of their pellets. They pellets swelled slightly but weren’t saturated enough to turn to porridge. The buns ABSOLUTELY LOVED them, so i continued to give them one (small) bowl once a day alongside their other normal food/hay/veggies. Both bunnies have wonderfully rounded, healthy looking poo and are full of beans, playing and causing mischief.

Am I okay to keep supplementing their normal food with these soaked pellets? They are making for very happy Bunnies!

        Thank you!

Defiantly yay. Finn needs mushed pellets as he has no front teeth but Myrtle has taken a liking to it too. You can chop apple up and put that with it and mixed rolled oats. It can also be warmed. Just get Excel, and run a little warm water over them in a bowl. Leave for a minute then stir and press down with a spoon.

Don’t have anything to add. Just want to thank you guys for the info We’re in a bit of exceptional bad weather here, so if electricity fails us I now have a new good idea to keep the bun warm

Thanks. I wanted to make sort of like a bunny oatmeal for my bunny by adding in little fruit pieces. Now I know its safe!

This is how I feed Bindi his pellets at mealtime. Also a good option for bunnies who gobble pellets too fast and are prone to getting pellets stuck in their throat (the reason Bindi gets mushy pellets) or what me and Evi call it “Bear Porridge”.
