So this is kinda gross

So I was laying in bed about ready to call it a night and trigger jumped up onto the bed and was head bumping me for some pets which is normal. After about five minutes or so he was done and ready to go run around after he jumped down off the bed I seen a few poops which is normal so I went to grab my little bunny poop spoon. When I came back I noticed a bunch of little white worms. I quick flushed them down the toilet which was probably a mistake. I put him back in his cage right away took out his litter pan to clean it. When I came back he had pooped a few times in his cage so I used the soon to pick up the poop and put it in a plastic bag it had a few worms on the poop too. I think they are probably pin worms and that’s just gross. I consider myself a very clean person and my house is always clean, how could trigger have gotten worms. We were just at the vet last week for a small eye issue. I’m pretty sure now I’m going to have to go to the doctor to get de-wormed my self. This is soooo nasty I feel dirty, I’m washing all my bedding and couch cushions, trigger is/ was free roam in the house. any one every run into this before?

Parasites can be picked up from grass, dirt, etc so indoor only pets can get them sometimes. It is unlikely you are infected, but you can ask your doctor.

I will be calling the vet in the morning but ugh another vet bill is going to suck.

Ditto Stickerbunny…. If your concerned just by some Combantrin next time your are out and about.. Mean while Revolution will also control worms in cats, dogs and other furries… To be precise Round worm which is also known as thread or pin worm…
I wouldn’t feel dirty they probably picked them up if they had a lawn run or it could have come in on your shoes, on a child, on vegetables from anywhere really.

http://www.revolution.com.au/what-is-revolution.aspx I would still see the vet though, it might require and ivermectin shot for the first infestation and you could use the Revolution for preventative treatment… See what you’re vet thinks.

You can use panacur for pinworms. Fenbendazole.
It’s non prescription.

One of my rabbits was born in my home and never had been outside. She had pinworms when younger. I must have picked them up from her mum even though it wasnt as obvious in her mums poop.

I can certainly understand being disturbed by this. I would bring the back of poos to the vet.

Trigger goes to the vet Thursday…… I did have him outside about two weeks ago so he could do a little exploring. I do have a lot of cotton tails around my house also. I was very shocked to see worms I won’t be having that in my house, trigger is confined to his cage until we get this worm situation under control. He is NOT happy about being locked up that’s for sure.

Trigger went to the vet today and found that it is not pin worms that trigger has but very small round worms. Equally nasty but they are so small that the vet assistant didn’t even see them. The fecal test came back negative for eggs, I had to show the vet one of the worms in the bag cuz they didn’t see any thing when I said there are dozens in the baggy. She took a look at the worms under the microscope the confirm exactly what they were. She seemed kind of impressed I spotted such a small worms just luck I guess. The worms are very very young that’s why there were no eggs in the fecal test. She said no one spots the worms until they are in the adult stage when they are leaving eggs in the poop. I’m still shampooing my whole house and the couches.
