there was a little orange and white kitty stuck in an abandoned/boarded up house right next to me. he was crying in the basement window. at first i figured, well, he got in i’m sure he’ll get out. a day later he was still crying in that window. I called a bunch of different people and no one got back to me. so after another day went by i finally took matters into my own hands, got a screwdriver, and opened a storm door and was able to get him out.
i figured he would run away, but he kept rubbing up against my leg and crying. i borrowed some cat food from the neighbors and fed him. i called some humane societies but all they cared to tell me was that they were full. i put a collar on him with my number, but no one has called.
he’s been sleeping all night in a box on my porch. he is SOOOO friendly, but really skinny and has fleas.
I got a tip from a colleague to go to my local petsmart. the organization there agreed to neuter, vaccinate, de-flea, de-mite, de-worm and vet check him for free if i would foster him. on the weekends i can take him to “adoption days” at the store.
i would LOVE to keep him permanently but I just can’t afford it on many different levels.
I named him “Theo”, after the character from Children of Men. He could totally save all of mankind with no shoes and no gun
p.s. does anyone in the upstate new york, vermont, or connecticut area want a kitty? i’ll be in all of those states in the next month
