Olaf started sneezing today. I realize some sneezing on occasion is normal but I’ve maybe witnessed him sneeze only one or two times in three years. This afternoon he’s sneezed probably a dozen times over the course of a few hours. No discharge, wetness, or other symptoms.

The only thing I can think of is I washed all the blankets and couch covers yesterday so they may have a scent from the detergent? Otherwise, not sure what it could be.

Any thoughts on sneezing or what to watch out for? Thank you!

It could be the sheets. Also, any new scent brought into the house? Any plant changes outside (like flowers blooming or dying) ? New or different hay brought inside? Maybe change your air filter and see if that helps! If not within a couple of days, maybe bring him to the vet to make sure nothings stick up his nose.

That’s my thoughts too, Bunny House.

Pink, if your allergies have been flaring up, it’s possible the hay is more dusty or heavier with pollen currently and nothing Olaf also.

Another thought – have you been cranking up the heat more lately?

Thank you both! Yes, allergies have been high here and with the colder weather I have had the heat on, so the air has been dry. That’s definitely a big possibility. Fortunately, I have a humidifier coming this week so I’ll see if that helps make it less stuffy.

Thank you! I’ll keep an eye on it.

The humidifier should weigh down any allergens and help alleviate symptoms!

Daisy was sneezing and we couldn’t figure it out! Nothing changed…After a couple of days, my son noticed a small something coming from her nose. We grabbed her and a pair of tweezers and pulled out a piece of hay – poor thing. Once we got the hay out, the sneezing stopped. Just putting it out there as a possibility! Good luck!

Oh, wow! That’s good to know. I wouldn’t have thought about that so I’ll check to be sure. Glad she was okay!

How is he doing now? I hope the sneezing has stopped.

Hope he has stopped sneezing! Mine sometimes sneeze when they get hay dust up their nose.

Teatree humidifiers have been known to be poisonous too dogs, so just double check the scents you are using will be safe for your little fluff

Aww… Darling Olaf. Hope it resolves very soon.

The other posters offered some wonderful suggestions.

All I can offer is that Chewie sneezes much more frequently from normal hay dust when the air’s dry (like it is for us now). All through the tropically humid summer, barely a sneeze. Now… achoo central.

But detergent also worth looking into. As is a peek up his snoot with a penlight
