Hey everyone I tried to find this topic but failed so I am very sorry if it is somewhere here

So my bun is 5-6months old now I have had him for 3-4 months and he’s a very happy bun flopping around everywhere and coming to me for strokes a lot, I got him neutered about a month ago.

After it he started sneezing but was his usual self then the sneezing got worse so I went to the vets and they gave him baytril for 7 days this seemed to clear a lot of it up and he was still sneezing after the 7 so did some research and found that 7 days was a short course compared to most, so I asked for another 7 day course he seemed to sneeze a lot less and his nose looked a lot better but he is still sneezing, he is loving life still and eating/pooing and seeing as usual. But he does still get white mucus now and then.

Anyone been through the same with there bun?

          Hi Bunnyguy101,

Sneezing can be caused by a myriad of reasons: he can indeed have a bacterial lung infection or a bunny cold, or he can also be allergic to something. Dusty litter material and old hay can also cause sneezing, what kind of litter material do you use?

To be honest with you, only a vet can help with this. It is advisable to go see one that specialises in exotic animals, preferably bunnies. Did he say something about the white mucus? I know that 7 days of antibiotics may look short but it also depends on the infection. My bunny recovered from severe sneezing fits with just 5 days of antibiotics.

            Hi

I use a wood based litter and hay that I change every 2 days (if he hasn’t eaten it by then).

I use the pets at home vets (it’s a chain of pet shops that sell small animals with their own vets) he said it was a bacterial infection, I am going to go back to the vets soon just wanted to see if anyone has any experience in this case so it gives me a good idea when I go back

Hi bunnyguy! It’s quite common for a bunny bacterial cold to take several weeks of antibiotics to clear.

(The BB Forums prefer it when people start new threads rather than re-open old ones. Especially when it’s about matters of medicine. It’s an area that develops so fast that advice rapidly become outdated.)

                Hi Bunnyguy101!

Do you mean “wood pellets” or “wood shavings”? The first ones are mostly alright, but the second ones can cause breathing problems. I -silly me- was using wood shavings and the vet made me change them.

Hi Bam thank you the only ones I could find was on rabbits online, but it’s all about binky bunny ?.

It’s wood pellets the shavings annoyed me in the first few days of having lil Theo because they went everywhere. And the hay I use is a good quality soft green hay that he loves
