Alaska is becoming world renowned for it’s wildfires that can spread into the tens of thousands of acres in hours or days. We have what is called a “controlled burn” (yeah, right) going on right now in Nenana which is about 50 miles southwest of where I live.
As a result, the wind shifted and brought all the lovely smoke
*gasp*
into the Fairbanks bowl and we got stuck with it last night about an hour before sunset (stil about 10 PM up here).
Thought you might like to see what it looks like.

Yup. That’s ol’ Sol…or what you can see of it.
That nice grey sky is all choking forest fire fumes. Sometimes the particulates gets so large it looks like a volcano exploded in my front yard.
I had hoped for a nice summer to take the bunnies outdoors with this year. But when we don’t have blazing hot temps that are totally uncharacteristic for us or so many mozzies it’s like being at a Red Cross blood drive, it’s been like this and I don’t dare even open my windows no matter how stuffy the house gets. >.<
Yuck. I almost can’t wait for snow!
