I wanted to make some bunny christmas decor to hang on the buns condo and I need some sisal string. Does anyone know where I can get some that is untreated with no treatments or pesticides?
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I couldn’t decide if I should put it here or the bunny homes/pens forum.

Hey LEL, being from Australia (or just me being dohey, lol..), I’m not sure what ‘sisal’ string is? This may not be the best suggestion, but I hung 2 toys up in Henry’s house using fishing line. When I bought them they had string/rope to attached them and he chewed (ate) it so tried the fishing line with the intent to keep an eye on it and him. It’s been a good month now and they are still hanging! I can’t help but wonder if its cause he can’t see it? As I said, it may be a huge no no (the fishing line), but thought I’d make the suggestion on the chance it may be ok for your decorations?

Most sisal ropes and string are untreated… You can also use cotton cord or bundles of rafia binding….
Most hardware stores, craft shops and warehouse supplies will carry them.

I personally would go for the untreated Raffia Ribbon, you can also get it in colours with food dye.

Then there is untreated sisal string

or untreated sisal rope that can be split..

The raffia ribbon is the prettiest though. You can get it online or at craft stores..

                Thanks for the help!
I went to the craft store but I couldn’t find any sisal but they did have jute string that looked the same and I am pretty sure I heard it was safe, is that ok? I am sure it is untreated, I spent a while in the store smelling it, I must have looked like an idiot.
I did see that raffia and was tempted to buy it but I didn’t know if the colors were safe.

The main problem I see with the raffia ribbon in colours would be transfer. They are a water based food dye that will run if it gets wet I.E. Chewed
So you could end up with rainbow buns…

Lol yes…. Didn’t think about that… Especially with my two white bunnies they could become rather colorful.
Mabye I should just stick with the uncolored raffia although rainbow bunnies would be fun.
