Hey guys! nervous first time bunny mom here, my bun is a little over 6 months and i noticed shes been acting weird today. I’m not sure if its normal because it appears shes sleeping behind my computer chair with her eyes closed and bunny loaf position. She didn’t seem interested in eating till I gave her basil. I checked her stomach to see how she was doing, all I heard was her breathing/heart beat with occasional pop noise, I’m not sure if I should be freaked out or not. shes currently running around on my bed and grooming herself. shes also still pooping, I believe. I found an old poop on my chair.. and my floor is littered with old poops. Help?

It’s good that she’s pooping. It sounds like she has gas (“popping sound”). Do you have simethicone (baby gas drops)? If not, I would recommend getting some and giving it to your rabbit. You cannot harm a rabbit by giving simethicone (unflavored, no additives types), and it can help relieve gas pains.

You can also try tummy massages! Gently rubbing the belly to help move that gas around. There is a YouTube video by HowCast that can show you some techniques.

The poop in odd places can be a result of gas. When Wick had a very bad gas episode, he’d reposition himself often and each time poops came out of him.

Dosage of simethicone can be a dropper full (usually it comes with a dropper). I just give Wick that, though some people are more exact and do 0.6 to 1.0 of the measurement (mL I think? Unsure). Simethicone goes right to the gut, so it’s impossible for a rabbit to overdose on it or have ill effects from a dose.
