Siamese Satin Rabbits Question

Hello everyone!  Does anyone have a siamese satin rabbit, or satin rabbits in general?  This may strike you guys as hilarious – but siamese cats can be cranky (more often than not – my sister has the meanest siamese cat – the meanest, fiercest cat no matter his color – and she had a female siamese who was also mean, I’m just saying, I have never met a siamese cat that was friendly, and they did a scientific study on dogs and coat color and there’s a link between disposition and coat color in dogs and temperament) I’m just wondering, are siamese rabbits cranky?

Siamese is a color in rabbits, rather than a breed (like in cats). I don’t think coloration has any influence on temperament/personality. I believe that satins are thought to be calmer/more laid back in general. Of course, this would not be true for all individuals since every bunny is going to be different. But that’s the stereotype. I suppose because they are a larger breed.

I’ve had many siamese cats over the course of the years, and I will say that they have very strong personalities and opinions. If they don’t like you they can be down-right mean, but they can also be overly affectionate if you are their person. I had a siamese boy that was excessively talkative and affectionate towards our family, but to strangers he turned into devil-cat. lol

Sorry that this had no real input for the question asked, but I figure that LBJ handled that.

A little off topic, sorry, but I just have to disagree about Siamese cats being mean! I think the problem with Siamese is that they are extremely active cats. They are very playful and have tons of energy. I have had several “normal” cats before our Siamese, and it’s like night and day. She is a very nice, affectionate cat, she is attached to us on a whole other level than my previous cats were. BUT, if she doesn’t get a chance to exercise and get that energy out, you can definitely tell. She will get antsy and start to play rough with us, she will bite quite hard. I think it’s pretty much the same as getting a high energy dog, if you don’t keep them busy they turn into your worst nightmare. I think a lot of people aren’t prepared for this when getting a Siamese (I know we weren’t) and that’s why many of them get dumped at the pound for being “vicious”

Sorry but I have no advice about the Satin rabbits, although I do agree with LBJ, color shouldn’t really have any impact on temperament.

Cottontail it’s true – my sister’s Siamese, Pooh Bear, was a bottle baby rescue my sister rescued. He loves her, and I used to take care of him too when he was a baby, but then he grew up. Once, I was over at her apartment and she went and took a shower and I was sitting on her couch waiting for her and I just hear this noise, this weird growling noise. Her cat, Pooh Bear, was fluffed up and stalking me, growling. I got up and thought maybe I could give him a treat and placate him. Oh no. He snarled and growled and swatted and hissed! Now, he’s not a small cat – he’s 20lbs. He cornered me in the kitchen until my sister got out of the shower. Then when she came out she said “oh Mr. Fluffy, what are you doing?” and he meowed and purred at her. He HATES me. He gets lots of exercise but he is just a mean-spirited hard-hearted cat. He pretty much hates everyone but my sister. He tolerates her husband but pretty much hates everyone except her. She took him to the vet once and the vet couldn’t treat him because he was so mad and angry they couldn’t get him out of the cage. She comes in and she’s like “Oh Mr. Fluffers, are you having a bad day?” He’s a long hair siamese. He’s a bad kitty.

I have a satin rabbit. He is very docile and smart. He is super strong and does not like to be picked up but loves to give kisses and be pet. He is very active and quite spiteful too. My satin is a little over a year and he is 6 .5 lbs. We think he is a mix between a mini satin and a regular satin.
