Should I take my bunnies outside

Just wondering if they should be going outside to get more sunlight and fresh air?

I never ever take mine outside and they are perfectly fine and healthy.

I do open windows for fresh air when I can though. Well that’s for me and for them.

In the past when I have taken some of my rabbits outside they seemed more scared than happy.

Others will have different opinions though.

Some bunnies enjoy going outside, some will be terrified. If you do try to take them out be sure it’s in a closed in bun proofed pen where predators cannot get to them and do not leave them unsupervised. Hawks and other predators have no issue swooping down for easy prey, even if a human is within sight range. A member on another forum I am on nearly lost his falcon to a hawk that swooped down while he was standing nearby because the hawk figured it could get the bird before the human could do anything about it, since the falcon was on a perch outside for fresh air (luckily he was close enough to intervene and save his bird).

I have tried taking mine outside, but they really didn’t enjoy it so I don’t bother and they are perfectly happy and healthy.

One thing to consider is ticks. My area has a ton of ticks, and even though they’re not commonly in open yard areas, they can be. I know I wouldn’t be able to check the bunnies thoroughly enough.

I take mine outside on occasion when the weather permits. It took sally, my lop, a few times to actually enjoy herself. She spent most of her time in the carrier but after the third time she would come out and explore. My other bun Harley was excited from the get go. Binkying around running, jumping, mowing the lawn. I think it’s because Harley was from a reputable breeder and she would let the buns out in a huge run every day for a few hours to run and exercise in her garden so he was kinda used to it. And Sally was a pet store bun and I’m sure it was the first time she stepped foot on real ground lol but now they both really seem to enjoy themselves. Sally is just more aware of her surroundings and cautious but she binkies around.

I just always provide them something they can go hide in if they were to ever feel uncomfortable. And I don’t even bother taking them Out at certain times of the day when it’s most noisy. Like when children are all over the place walking home from school. Stuff like that. Get to know your surroundings and take them out when it’s most quiet

Also do NOT put them on any kind of harness. And sit out there with them at all times. And a bunny proof fence is a MUST. Do not let them out loose. But you don’t HAVE to take them outside to have healthy happy bunnies. I think it’s more for ourselves than our bunnies anyways :p

We take ours outside when the weather is nice. Prada hops around. Miumiu does lots of binkies.
They are confined in a NIC pen when they are out. We stay IN the pen with them.
We also put a carrier and a tunnel in the pen, so they can hide. But they never use those hiding places.
