So im curious what you would do.  Blossom has her big cage she is in and the door is always open to our playroom which is 12×12.  I sometimes want to bring her into the other part of the house which I dont think she even knows exists!! She doesnt even try to go over the treshhole.  Its just that she is a very nervous bunny and I think the big part of the house would overwhelm her.  What do you think.  I just want to make sure she is happy in the 12×12 room.  We are in the room alot but she is in there from 9pm – 7am while we sleep.  Thanks Mindy

If you rabbit proof the rest of the house and dont mind her possibly peeing in corners to mark her territory and potentially opening yourself up to allowing her to come out more often, then I would say go for it! The more time she spends with you, the more bonded she will become to you.

My bun has her own 12×9 room. The door stays shut when we are asleep and when we are both away. If we stay gone longer than normal, like if we go out, and throw off her routine, she will not come out of her room if the door is left open. We have to go in and get her and bring her out ourselves.

Blossom might not be leaving the room because she feels safe in there and doesn’t want to venture outside her comfort zone. She might also see the rest of the house as your territory and the playroom as hers. So she might be uncomfortable overstepping her bounds. She may just not be aware of the rest of the house. My bun never goes outside and therefore never seems to be interested in the magic door that we disappear into for hours.

The key will be to bunny proof!!!

You could try introducing her slowly to the new rooms. Like maybe don’t give her the whole house right away, let her have one room, then the next and then the next.

I will take down the baby gate and the buns will sneak out into the living room. After a few minutes, the novelty wears off and they go back to their room.

My rabbits love exploring the whole house, Stickers is a bit nervous, but she still likes to (though, if anyone moves when she’s going into a new room she bolts back to her area). If you can rabbit proof it and don’t mind some marking (at the least you will probably get droppings), I don’t see why not. My two do the biggest binkies ever when I let them come out and play in the rest of the house.

my biggest fear is I wont be able to get her back to the playroom because I dont even think she would no how to get back to it if she tried.  I can’t really block off all the rooms because it is an open concept house.  She is hard to pick up so I dont think I could get her back to the room that way.

I wouldn’t let her then until A, you know how to get her back to her pen without much stress, or B, you both are comfortable with picking up.

You could use a piece of fruit or her veggies or pellets to lure her back in.

It’s a great idea to let your rabbit explore! I have a Rex/Checkerd Giant mix and he LOVES to wander into other rooms! But before you let your rabbit out  it’s important to let bunny proof the room{s}. Also what i did for my “play room” for my bun i covered all of the cords , and anything else i didnt want him to get into. I hope this helps you!
