        Hi everyone!

I took my lionhead bunny RJ to the vet today where he got his daily checkup, but he also had a fever of 104. He had an injection of an antibiotic for discharge from his nose and an anti-inflammatory and fluids for the fever, but they said they suspected the fever was from stress of being at the vet. He’s been fine for most of the day, laying on icepacks and a cool tile; ate some of his dinner and was eating treats but now he’s started to act a little strange. I came in and he was laying in his litterbox, something he never does, and he was just laying around and wouldn’t eat a treat and hasn’t continued eating although sometimes his food sits around until later in the night. I’m just curious if he’s worn out from his long day or something is seriously wrong and I should take him to an emergency vet?

If someone could give me some advice or insight that would be so helpful and much appreciated.

Generally, if a rabbit refuses a treat (repeatedly… not just snubbing you because they’re grumpy!), and is behaving weirdly, we would consider it an emergency. You do say that he ate when you first got home though, so that’s positive. Has he been pooping? How many hours ago did he last eat?

It could be that the stress of the vet or the antibiotic has put him off food, and caused the start of GI Stasis.
