I really don’t want her walking around/laying on a grid floor. (the bottom of my rabbit condo includes NIC grids just like the walls and roof just so it’s easier for me to move it around if I have to so it’s structurally sound). It has 3 floors. The top two floors have soft padding and she does spend time on those but only mostly at night. During the day she prefers to hang out on the wire ground. I’ve tried putting different things on the ground floor like rugs, carpet tiles, all sorts of stuff and she actually pushes these things out of the way just enough for an opening for her body to lay on the grid directly. Why is this? I feel like it can’t be very comfortable

Maybe you could try putting a piece of cloth or fleece and clipping it to the sides? That said I know bunnies can be very aggressive in bunstructing their area, but it’s worth a shot.

I think honestly though it’s not that big of an issue. When people advise against wire bottom cages, it’s usually directed at those who keep their bunnies cooped up in a wire bottom cage for long periods of time. If your bunny has other areas or different surfaces she can run around then I think it shouldn’t be too bad.

Yeah, she would definitely use all of her strength to pull it apart or even bite a giant hole through it haha I’m thinking of going the extra mile and having some wood cut to fit the cage and having a really tight/low cut carpet adhesed to the top of the wood. If I can find a way to put carpet in the bottom of the cage without wood, that would be nice but it really needs to stick so she can’t tear it off and the carpet needs to be made in a way she can’t dig into it or chew it up.. which will be a challenge as well because I bought a rug I was sure she couldn’t destroy and she indeed destroyed it with almost no effort. I’m hoping when she gets fixed, the digging and stuff calms down a bit.
Plus once she’s fixed, she’ll go back to being free roam again full time anyway and she won’t be in the cage for as much time. She prefers to sploot on my bed anyway so her feets should be safe haha She just keeps leaving her love juice all over and won’t leave me alone right now if I let her out. I still let her out for cuddles every day but she gets pissed when I stop petting her and she will bite and dig at me if I don’t. Before the hormones, she would just chill around me mostly and now she can’t. She’s too intense with me so I sadly have to put her in the condo for the most the day especially since I work from home on the computer and it’s hard to work when I have a rabbit attacking me for cuddles while also honking and spraying me.
