Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know I got all A’s on my midterms, and I am in alot of pain. my back is killing me and nothing helps, first they put me on muscle relaxers and that did not work, so they started treating me for chronic pain with pain killers, later ended up at the ER, for x rays, all my bones are good but they can’t tell nothing till an MRI is done, and now I am on steriods. and yet the pain reamains the same. anyway I just had a visitor, you could say my mintour @ bonsai, tell me that if you have 2 buns in a cage, one will change to a male. That just sounds really crazy and out of wack to me, but I could be wrong, so here I am asking my bunny pros if this is true? please tell me that it is not, that is just to creapy. pray for my back to get better, and all wish my son a happy 1st birthday sunday. thank you all very much.

It is definitely not true. Bunnies have set genders, they can’t change at will.

And both my girls are still girls. No boy parts have magically appeared.

I suspect this myth has come about from people misgendering their buns when they buy them.

Nope, not true at all. In fact, 2 rabbits can have offspring, and right after mommy gives birth, she can get pregnant immedately, and if you do the math, it can get up really high to how many offspring can be made.

Only Amphibians lower life forms than them can actually change their sex dependent upon various factors.

Now, wild rabbits have been known to change their litter sizes dependent upon the availability of food. The less food in the area, the smaller the litter.

Awesome job on your grades! That is impressive! I know first-hand how hard it is to maintain your schoolwork and studying with a young child in the house!

I wish your son a fantastic first birthday! Remember to try and relax a little bit that day! The first birthday is as much for the mommy as it is the baby!

I am sorry you’re in pain. That is awful. By chance, did the doctor order an ultrasound? I was experiencing horrendous back pain a few years back, and altho I have chronic back pain due to an accident I was in as a teenager, this was very intensified! Turns out I had huge kidney stones.

Thanks you for the info, it seemed really strange to me too. I am just waitnig on an MRI now, They did a Urine test @ the ER. I think it may be from a car accident I was in around thanks giving, that or all those years of diirt bike recks and being bucked off horse is catching up with me.

congrats on the grades and your son’s birthday! Sorry about the back pain, I know how much that can affect everything you try to do.

My Pringles ‘changed’ gender 3 or 4 times *tongue in cheek*. Each vet told me something different until I met my current bunny-wise vet who pronounced her a girl for sure.

Last year I was talking to a woman at Tractor Supply who saw me buying bunny supplies and excitedly told me all about how her brother-in-law was setting her up to raise Cabbits, that she could sell and make a fortune  >..<. She assured me that he had brought her a pedigreed rabbit who had been bred to a champion cat and that in a few weeks she could expect her first litter. I was trying not to laugh too hard, but I talked myself blue in the face and couldn't convince her that he was playing a joke on her.

After all, she had seen photos on the web, so it had to be true!  😉 I would have liked to have been around when the cabbits were ‘born’ to see what happened to the bil.

New1, I’m sorry to hear you’re suffering, especially around your sons birthday. I hope you get some relief and answers soon!

As to the sex changing bunnies….we’ll we do like to joke here about that when someone finds out the gender of their rabbit isn’t what they thought. But a biological change? No. It can happen with plants & some animals but not our bun-buns. Though………some rabbits can be born with both sex organs.

I wonder if your visitor was referring to mounting/humping behaviours? i.e. Like one rabbit “acts like the male”? Sometimes people think only male rabbits hump and are surprised if a female humps another female or male rabbit. Anyway, if you find out he was pulling the wool over your eyes, you can tell him you believed it only for a minute and because you were on some meds.

Those cabbits remind me of my chinchillas! Haha! Not because they looked like them though. It’s because I remember showing some pics of them to a coworker and then another coworker came over and exclaimed “What do you cross to get THAT thing?” I replied with “A squirrel and a rabbit”. =P
