second xpen?

Hi guys.. I have started applying for some speed dates, and now I’m stuck with what to do. I was originally going to allow Louie to free roam and have new bunny stay in the xpen then switch for exercise, but now Louie has started the lovely habit of bed-peeing. 🙄 There’s the tiniest chance she could live in my en-suite bathroom, but it’s not the best option. Should I invest in other xpen? After her and Louie are bonded they’ll share, but that won’t happen right away. It’ll be an eyesore, but I suppose I do have the room. I can probably find one used in my local facebook group for cheaper. The xpen is my only concern because it is the most pricey item, another litter box, and more food bowls and such won’t be the problem.

I would…or use NIC cubes to make a pen or small condo. The cost is prob about the same, but the cube grids can be configured however you want. Having an extra x-pen is super helpful for bonding to divide up the free-roam area as well, if you plan on letting them exercise at the same time.

You also might be able to find a used dog crate for pretty cheap. The biggest ones aren’t huge, but are OK for temporary housing so long as bun gets lots of exercise time.

Ok, I’ll keep an eye out for something used that can work, and if I don’t find one, I can save some money by buying the smallest height which I believe is 24 inches, then configuring it under my desk, which is a dining room table I use for sewing, that way there’s kind of a top so she is unable to jump out. I’ll work something out, thank you!

I ordered my x pens off of Amazon a few days ago. If you scroll down on a listing there’s sometimes an option for used ones. I got two used ones, one was $37 and the other was $38 Canadian dollars. Of course there’s tax after that, but they were the cheapest ones I could find. They haven’t arrived yet, so I don’t know if they are the greatest. It said they had only cosmetic flaws, which I assume means the paint is chipped or something but it should still work fine. We’ll see! You could also look on Kijiji.

I found a great one on chewy for around $40 which is good, and I’m also considering a dog crate because two xpens take up tons of space, and it can be converted into a hidey house or temporary setup if we travel.

A speed date is when you allow your rabbit to meet several different bunnies to see their initial reaction, it’s a good way to make sure you don’t adopt a bunny your rabbit hates.

I haven’t gotten a new bun yet, but I’m going for some speed dates soon. I’d love to build a wooden pen, but for now, I’m sticking to portable wire enclosures until they’re completely bonded, then maybe I can try to build something pretty, that would be cool.
