scraching alot…?

ivy sometimes itches behind her ear and I don’t know why… never any where else dies anyone know why?

Probably something irritating her there. Could be fleas, mites, ear wax build up making it tickle, etc. Is there any redness, swelling, crustiness, loss of fur?

Ive checked her ears and the fine theres no redness or anything like that I look at her and she looks normal

All bunnies will scratch themselves sometime. Just like humans. But if she starts doing it very often, and/or if there is redness, swelling, scrachmarks, crusts or dandruff, then you have to get to the bottom of it, because then you have a problem. So keep monitoring her.

I think it might just be normal because theres no swelling or anything like that but how much sraching is normal?

I think perhaps they should scratch themselves like once a day or so. They shouldn’t become like they’re obsessed and scratch the area over and over (if a bunny do that, you’ll soon see some type of irritation just from the nails scraping against the skin again and again.) 

Maybe she’s adjust to being inside? The humidity is different inside, indoors air is much more dry. 

I don’t know if it’s the same with young bunnies, but young puppy-dogs scratch themselves more than adult dogs do.

It’s natural….
You’ll notice if theres a problem because it will be more persistant and annoying scratching in the same place rather than just chilled out comfort scratching ! lol

I just found out that behind her ear its abit red… her ear doesn’t smell and it looks fine is this normal?

You can put some bag balm on it and see if that helps. It isn’t normal for the skin to be red. Fur mites are generally seen as dandruff. (It isn’t actual dandruff, but it looks like dandruff). If you see dandruff, she probably has mites.

Okay thank you, actually my sister just took a look its pink, I think it was just the lighting but she is still scratching but only a tiny bit once an hour maybe and she shakes her head every half and hour or sooner.. so I’m not sure if its mites

If she keeps it up, you probably should let a vet have a look. It could be mites or a fungal infection f ex. If she scratches herself so she gets sores, you should put on neosporin cream if you have any (plain neosporin, not the type that has a pain-killer added) and book an appointment with your vet. Fur mites are extremely common in bunnies, but they are luckily very easy to cure with the right meds (Revolution or Ivermectin).
