Scab on bunnies head

Earlier, I was petting Midas between his ears on the top of the head. They aren’t a different color from his natural skin, and he isn’t missing any fur there. I am not really worried about it, because he shows absolutely no pain or irrational by it.. Should I be worried? Does your rabbit have this? Is there anyway to fix it? Thanks guys

I think a scab would be a different color…why do you think it’s a scab?
If it is a scab, you’d want to maybe pinch lightly to see if you can feel a ball under the skin-that would indicate an abscess. Small injuries aren’t too much to worry about, except to figure out how it happened; but rabbits get abscesses (basically a ball of infection) easy and those need to be drained. So it’s good to check the site for signs of an abscess.
But if it’s not a scab, I’m thinking it could be nothing, or maybe mites or-the list goes on! Can you post a picture?

Henry had a scab (white-ish in colour) that was sort of easy to pick off, along with a few flakes on his head with a very small bald patch. It was mites.  Very easily remedied.  If that’s what it is???

I am a lot more worried today  Midas now has a bald spot on the top of his head, along with a small red scab.. What should I do?? Help please

I’m NO expert, please remember that LBP’s, but that looks very much like Henry’s did when he had mites. I quickly remedied it with ‘Revolution’ for kitten’s. Besides Revolution for kitten’s being safe for bunnies (be careful, some brands aren’t, why I use Revolution – cause I know it is), it is so easy to apply and will get rid of fleas too. My Henry also had the odd flea from my dog’s. So now I treat them all with Revolution about twice a year, and I’ve never had the problem again. Try this, and if it clears up, that would have been the problem. If it doesn’t get better and heal I think a visit to the vet may be in order. Henry’s healed up within 2 weeks I think, and you’d never known he had a mite issue and a bald patch.

PS – To help with any discomfort from the scab after I applied the Revolution, I dabbed a bit of antiseptic cream on his head. I wonder if this helped the healing process???

Even though we had Henry for quite a few months before he had his outbreak, everyone seemed to think he came with them. I’d never heard of mites till I got Henry and can’t imagine how he would have gotten them from here??? I’d say Midas would have come with them too…..
Even though I still treat Henry with Revolution when I treat the dog’s, it’s for fleas. I imagine if my dog’s have fleas, Henry will too seeing they spend all day and night together. Henry has never showed any signs of having mites again since.
So pleased I may have been able help LBP’s…. let us know how you go.

I will pick some up as soon as I get the chance.. Hopefully I will be going into town soon. I live an hour from the nearest pet store.

Im not certain if you can get Revolution over the counter there. Maybe in some regions?

If you’re going to a pet store, take care what you buy or what someone try’s sell to you. Some products are a waste if time & money. Others are dangerous to rabbits.

If you have other pets, they can be carries for outside parasites.
