ok, So I fell in love with most adorable bun today who is a harlequin. The breeder said he was “faulty” so I took him under my wing! He is only 5 months old and we are going to get him fixed ASAP because… Sally LOVES him! She will have to wait a good 8 weeks because after he’s fixed it takes him a month and then she will be ready to get fixed and she will need to recover but I did let them at least meet with VERY close supervision and they were in love! She ran up to him and laid down and laid her head flat on the floor and he started grooming her! And then he went about trying to explore his surroundings and she kept following him around it was so cute! I took a few pics of him and if it were up to me, I think Harley isn’t faulty at all…he is so sweet and such a gentleman. I did place his temporary cage right next to hers so they can still see each other no worries, he can’t breed with her through the cage.. I left a gap :p Here are some pics of my new, handsome addition

         I’m already in love

He is the same age as Sally but so much bigger! He was saying hello after the first initial meeting. While he was out, Sally jumped out of her cage to be with him! So I will be making some changes tomorrow so she can’t hop out when she sees her love romping around without her. :p

He was exploring and Abbie decided to say hello too He looks so big even compared to my dog! Abbie weighs about 12 pounds…

Don’t worry, this cage will be going back into storage tomorrow. We are building big cage for him tomorrow it’s only for the night. I’ll be getting a bigger litterbox tomorrow too! lol

He is gorgeous! Stupid breeders telling animals they are faulty *grumble grumble*
I hope this great first impression means they’ll bond easier. I’m glad you are being responsible and keeping them separated.

If he’s a true harlequin, he could get up to 10 pounds! Better make that a big cage

We are going to make a pretty big living space even though when he has his litterbox down he will be mostly free range except when we are sleeping. Feel bad for Sally because she is used to having free range all day but now I will have to divide their time until everyone is fixed and comfy. I hope it won’t be too hard to bond them after the desexing. I’ve heard that they could change their ideas about a rabbit after being fixed D: but hopefully having their cages next to each other for the next two months will help with the real bonding later down the road. When do rabbits his size typically stop growing? I know they can gain weight depending on diet but when are they are suppose to stop growing? Just to get a general idea…

Harley is so cute! I have a boy harlequin, he’s at least albs, so good mannered. Mine is not even anywhere as close as Harley to the “standard” harlequin look but beautiful nevertheless. Enjoy your new rabbit.

Here is my harlequin, Honeysuckle (if it works.. new at this)

What a cutie! I love the pic of him flopped in the purple cage. You will definitely have your hands full with those two!
