I think I have to start feeding PJ. He isn’t finishing his meals, and hardly drank water.  I never had to to do in the 11 years I’ve had him.  I was very fortunate with that.  But he isn’t doing so well and I want to try and help him with feedings to get a bit more in him.  I always have critical care around incase of emergencies.  I’m scared he will asperate the either water or food.  How do I do this safely?  I’ve watched a lot of videos but I thought I would ask you guys for some advice.  He’s always been the pickiest eater, and he has a little energy enough to start squirming around.  I don’t want to hurt him.  Thank you

This is the technique I use with Wick:

Generally I tend to be a bit rough to shorten the stressful period. In terms of choking and such, just be sure to depress the syringe slowly, in intervals!

Thank you Wick*  I’ve been wanting to get back to here but PJ needs me.  He’s not been moving hardly at all or drinking.  I appreciate you responding to this so quickly I’ll let you know how it goes

Most bunnies would chew on the food once it goes into their mouth during a syringe feeding session. Like Wick, we do it in short intervals and make sure Kurotta chews and swallows before syringing more. We were pretty scared at first too but it’s not as scary as it sounds once you get the hang of it

              Sending more vibes to PJ!

I’ve not had to syringe feed much but when I did, the bunny burrito wrap method was a saviour!

Be sure to put the syringe in the gap at the side of his mouth (between front teeth and back teeth) and just go slow. Stop regularly so he is able to swallow what’s in his mouth and then repeat.

I hope you manage, it can be tricky. I had the help of my partner so I can only imagine how difficult it would be if I was on my own.

                How is he doing now?

There are plastic attachments that make the syringe longer. Ask your vet for some. It was impossible for me to syringe feed a bunny anything successfully before having these. Good luck!
