I was thinking of giving my rabbit a phone book or newspaper to chew.

Is it safe as phone books and newspapers have print on them?

        Second question

The babies are out of the nest more than they are in now.

They are 3 weeks old tomorrow; they seem to be eating the same food as mum.

I have put in Lucerne hay but they eat mums oaten hay, it is hard because you can’t separate them from mum and they seem to want to eat everything she does.

Any suggestions or is that ok?

Phone books are OK, I am assuming that they aren’t different from the ones in the U.S. Here is a write-up on Safety When Chewing Paper.

Growing babes usually need more nutirients than an adult rabbit.  It sounds like they are modeling after mum, so you might want to try and get her to eat some of the lucerne hay.  I’m not sure if it’s OK if they stick to mums diet only are they eating lucerne pellets?

            Lucern hay not pellets.

I do have some pellets but the packet just says pellets not what kind.

I have a rabbit mix that I first brought when I got mum.it does not say what’s in it but mum loves it.

I know it isn’t the best as I can see corn in it.

I want to try to stop giving her the mix and change to the pellets and unlimited hay. I was giving her 1 cup of vegies morning and same at night.

At the moment I am feeding her more as she is feeding the bubs.

We feed lucerne (alfalfa) hay to all of our nursing moms.  They need the extra calories for milk production, so you can go ahead and feed it to all of them if you want to.
