Received sad news today and I need everyones support. My 3 yr old grandson is the light of my life. He’s been living very close to me since he was born, but in a few weeks he will be moving 5 hrs away to Tennessee! My heart is broken. Please pray for us. My husband is taking it hard too!

I’m sorry to hear this. It’s sad when families end up spread out, but I know sometimes it’s unavoidable. Are they moving for work or something? What kind of arrangements will you be able to make for visits?

That is going to be a very difficult transition for you and also for him as he is used to seeing you regularly. I would make a project out of looking up various travel options and costs and planning ahead. He is also going to need reassurance and an idea when he might see his grandparents again. Try to make the project as exciting as possible and show your grandson what you are doing so he feels a part of it.

Thanks girls. @Beka: yes, his dad (my step son) got transferred with his job to a new facility down there. He works for Amazon.com. As far as visits, we’ve talked about meeting halfway as often as possible so I can bring him home with me to stay a few days at a time. I’m lucky because I work weekend option in a hospital so I’m off M-F every week.
@Roberta: yes that is very smart and good advice! Thank u so much!

Aww I’m sorry I am very close with my grandparents, moving away from them would be very difficult.

5 hours isn’t so far away that you can’t drive over for a few days to visit Think of the good things about them only being 5 hours away, it could have been alot farther!

Thanks bunnyfriend. @monkeybun: that’s what I’ve been trying to do. Plus thinking how nice it’ll be to go to Tennessee for vacations! It’s definitely beautiful there.
