Lilly has cecal and fecal poop normally, but since I started mixing new, less fattening/protein food with her old food, she’s been having more cecal pellets and I just noticed two blotches of dark liquid poop in her litter box. I’ve read that diarrhea in adult rabbits is rare but very bad.. she’s about 4 years old.. Is it the food? Is she sick? Help!

If she’s 4, and not a baby, then it’s not from just a change of food. I would call your vet and ask if your vet thinks you need to bring her in. I know it’s the weekend, but let your vet tell you if she needs to be seen asap, or if not, what to watch for to know if it becomes urgent.

It’s likely a change in food. Usually people think it’s more cecal pellets but really it’s that they don’t need to eat all the cecal pellets and only will eat what they need so that is why you are likely seeing more.

I’ve been monitoring her poop all day and since I posted this, I haven’t seen any more, the rest are just normal. I’ll keep an eye on her throughout the weekend and if it starts again, I’ll call a vet. Thank you!
