    Hey guys —

My best friend and I will be running this May 5th, 2013 in the Pittsburgh Half-Marathon to raise money for a charity very close to my heart!  Rabbit Wranglers is the rescue that took Simba in when he was almost euthanized at a shelter for nipping someone.

Running for Rabbits. We will be participating in the Pittsburgh Half-Marathon this May 5th, 2013. Instead of running for one of the charities on the marathon page – we have decided to run for an organization that is very, very close to our hearts.

Rabbit Wranglers is a non-profit organization ran entirely by volunteers. These volunteers take injured, abused, and neglected rabbits into their hearts and homes and rehabilitate them, neuter them, and care for them until they are ready to be adopted as companion animals. They work hard to teach people the importance of caring for their bunnies properly – by giving aide in grooming, bonding, medical respite, and doing workshops and educational events.

This organization is a group made up of amazing people who have opened their hearts and homes to these wonderful animals in need. Without Rabbit Wranglers, many rescued bunnies are at risk for being euthanized for serious injuries or behavioral issues that other surrounding shelters do not have the funds or experience to treat. Find a spot in your hearts, like these volunteers, to give and help the discarded and neglected bunnies of Pittsburgh find their furever homes.

If anyone can pitch even, even if it’s just for Good Luck and wishes — myself, Paulina, and the Bunnies of Pittsburgh will be very appreciative!!  Here’s the link for it :

Thanks guys, and thanks for sharing on Facebook!! I’m so excited. I’ve been vowing to do a half-marathon FOREVERR but I can never work up the commitment to actually do it. I figured if I did one for the bunnies, it would be worthwhile and I’d be much more motivated to do it.

I chose Rabbit Wranglers, mainly because it’s specifically for rabbits, AND because the Humane Society I volunteer at has gotten some good money from doing the race but all the teams have dog and cat names. BOO. I WANT MY FURBUNNIES HELPED!

Hey DustBunny, that would be amazing!!!! We haven’t really made a team per say. Since we decided not to fundraise for one of their other charities that are sponsered (and created our own) we still had to pay the running/walking fee which is $100. Would you be able to swing it? I would’ve just donated my $100 but I feel like this is a good cause and I’m confident I can make more than $100 by fundraising (and I’ve been wanting to motivate myself to do this forever). So if you’d like to walk definitely go ahead! If you want, you could even sign up to do the 5K which is only $35 and then we can add you to our donation page! Whatever you want to do!!! If it’s a lot then don’t worry about it at all. Even the support is worth it for us and Rabbit Wranglers!

Have you ever heard of them??

Wish I had seen this earlier. Used to be a runner myself years ago and think it’s cool to have Run for Rabbits! How did it go?

It was great! I went over my goal and raised $510 so I was really happy. It was an awesome experience. And the run went by so fast!!
