I live in Saudi Arabia and the vets here know nothing about bunnies, so it is difficult to find answers without the net.
My husband and I have a 5-6 month old male unneutered bunny(we plan to get him snipped when we’re in the US, like I said, the vets aren’t competent here). He’s generally pretty laid back and hasn’t been super-hormonal or anything.
My husband and I went on a weekend trip just for one last time alone before our baby is born and his younger sister and mom took care of the bunny for us. He’s really not that difficult, we give him free roam of the bedroom, he has litter boxes, free food and water. We have a blanket on the floor for him, as well as his cage and we let him on the bed and couch in the room as he wants. He’s actually pretty spoiled.
The day after we got back from the trip, I noticed a bald spot on the top of his front toe. He has been shedding a bit and he tends to lick his paws a lot. He also tends to dig at the bed a lot but he’s blocked from getting under it because most of our cables are there and we don’t want him chewing. We have old couch pillows blocking him from getting under. I am guessing based on the angle he has gotten this from either digging so much he’s rubbed the hair off. The only other thing I can think of is his mom tried to be helpful and decided to mop the floor with clorox, but I don’t think that would cause an issue on the top of his foot.
The bald spot is kind of greyish and soft, doesn’t seem sore, just not very pretty. I’ll try to get a picture later. The rest of his coat looks healthy, no signs of parasites.
Has anyone else had a bunny do this sort of thing?
