Romeo.. La la la la.. Oh yea! Belle! La la la la.. Eh.. WHAT’S THE HECK!?!? (No, they aren’t making babies)

Long story.. I’ll make it short. I adopted a rabbit at least 10 hours ago. (he came from my local animal shelter) Yes I have three rabbits now.

I’m planning to have him bond with Romeo and Belle.

Anyway, I’m surprised at few things. For instance,  I adopted him on Jan. 2nd 2012 and I checked his birthday date.. Jan. 3rd 2011. Wow, I just adopted him a day before his birthday. (right now it is Jan 3rd. So happy birthday to him, lol)

Other thing I was surpised to know about his breed. Nobody know what’s his breed. The previous owner didn’t know either. I checked several websites to see list of breeds with pictures. Nothing matched.

I looked at him.. He is very well blend with hiding places. I didn’t notiecd he was hiding in cardboard house, cage, on carpet. It is hard to recognize him cuz of color on his fur. (black, brown, grey, tan) I looked at his tail again. All white with V black shape at the edge of tail. The first thing came up in my mind is that’s a cottontail rabbit. I have a wild rabbit in my house! I checked some pictures online. Yes cottontail rabbit look match to my rabbit. Wow..

IS IT LEGAL to own… “domestic” wild rabbit? I know it isn’t legal to take rabbits from wildlife but that rabbit is well-tamed and good behavior. he is already altered. (fixed)

 

The previous owner named him Thumper. (No thanks, too common name and not interesting name)

The local animal shelter named him Tait. ( I checked it up, and not support the name because I don’t believe in christian)

I think it is time for me to change his name. I never changed Romeo or Belle names.

Im thinking of somewhat romatic name like Romeo and Belle. (FYI, my third rabbit is MALE)

Romeo: An attractive, passionate male seducer or lover.

Belle: A beautiful girl or woman, esp. the most beautiful at a particular event or in a particular group

Romeo is Italian word

Belle is French word

I’m thinking other foregin langauge in europe like dutch or something like that.

I don’t think it is illegal since you adopted him, he is tamed, most likely captive bred, and is fixed. He couldn’t live out there on his own now, so I think it’s fine. But be careful, he’s a wild animal! (I kid. I kid). He sounds beautiful, I’d love to see some pics.

I kind of like the name Tait… I’m not Christian myself, but it has a nice sound to it… Not sure for romantic names though… hmm…

There are domestic bunnies with the same coloring of the wild rabbits. If you could post a pic we could better tell you if he is a wild bun or not.

If he is a wild bun, it is illegal to own one. Hopefully he isn’t

The color you’re describing is called chestnut and is a common color in domestic rabbits while also being the primary color of wild rabbits – so just based on color, there’s no reason to think he’s a wild rabbit. Can you post pictures?

Congratulations on the new bunny Can’t wait to see a pic! If he is a cottontail I would think it would be okay to keep him since he probably would have been taken as a baby or bred in captivity and isn’t used to living in the wild, but that’s just my opinion.  I like your idea of using 

another romantic name.

I too am thinking  he is of chesnut coloring   n not a wild bunny either.
