I have been letting Rocky out to have free roam of the kitchen because it is fully bunny proof… Well, apparantly the box I put up is a bit too low for him and he can hop right over… I caught him in the act!!!
What a wascally wabbit! I think he’s just living up to his name too.
Ok, it’s up!
Oh, that’s too funny! I notice him periscoping a few times before he took the leap to freedom so he was definitely thinking about it.
He’s so cute.
haha!! I could totally see him calculating the best way to jump over it. Classic!
Man, he looks tiny from that perspective! Rocky can take on anything, anyone, any box. I thought it funny when your OH says “good boy!” Will he be saying that when Rocky get thru a bunny barrier to something he values…? haha!
Seriously jersey, my BF is so silly! I didn’t notice he said that until I saw it back and I was like, don’t encourage him!!! Now I’m going to have to put up something taller or else he’s going to have to stay in his house all day long!!! lol
And here I was worried that he wouldn’t be able to get the the second floor of his bunny haven house when it comes in on Thursday! So totally not going to be a problem for him…
That is funny! When we first got Archie we had a barrier for our couch…first out of boxs, jumped over that, then a baby gate and he jumped over that! I swear, rabbits think they’re daredevils sometimes!
oh, that is so sweet you caught him do it! It’s funny how we kind of want them to do the things they’re not supposed to do! I had my bunny separate in my mudroom during his pre-neuter phase. One morning my bf told me that my rabbit had jumped the gate in the night (26″) and then proceeded to hide from him behind the toilet… After that night, he jumped the gate as soon as he found himself confined by it. We had to upgrade to a maximum security gate… 40″ high.
Geez Petzy! 40″! How big is your bunny? Rocky is only 3.2 lbs… I am so afraid that he’s going to hurt himself! The crazy thing is that he jumps from a linoleum floor and from just standing there… Imagine how high he could jump if he got a running start on carpet?! Yipers! I keep my bedroom door closed whenever he’s out and about, and his new favorite thing is to wait until we open the door, and bolt in and hide under the bed… I think it’s his favorite thing, but I can’t stand it because the bedroom has random things not bunny proofed.
Cotton used to jump out of his xpen… I returned it and got the tallest one… After a few months he jumped hung onto the horizontal bar near the top then climbed over and leapt to the kitchen table… Well no more confining him after that.. He was a good boo so I didn’t worry too much…
til he chewed my mouse wire.. He actually did me a favor chewing thru it…
Awe Rocky is an athelete… Look at him go…
JRBunbun, my jumper bunny is a mini rex — but did you know? ‘mini rex EXCEL at the sport of bunny-jumping’ !! At the time I read that about the breed I though it was a joke (all bunnies jump, right??) Now I guess, there is truth in it. Anyways, I only have so many gates and the next size up from the one he jumped was 40″.
hahaha… go rocky! i mean… bad rocky. boo.
it cracked me up watching your vid while he was contemplating the jump. classic bun move. you know exactly what they’re thinking of doing but they just take so long to make their move… especially when you’re trying to catch it on film. lol.
That is soooooooooo funny!! I’m going ask a dumb question, JRBunBun…what breed is Rocky? The reason I ask is because he’s almost identical to my Oreo. =)
Hi Sarah, Rocky’s vet told me that he’s a dwarf hotot mix. He does look a lot like the bunny in your photo! Maybe they are cousins! lol
The lady I got Oreo from (although I wouldn’t trust her as far as I could throw her…wish i could do that too!!) said he was an english spot…but I just don’t think so, hummm… Oreo’s around 11lbs though… Oh well, honestly I don’t care what he is, just noticed how much they look alike and thought I would ask! THANKS! At least Rocky doesn’t have a “bugger” LOL I call the spot on his nose a “bugger!”
This it too funny
. I learned long ago if you see a bunny periscoping to see over something… it most likely means they’re going to try and jump it >.<. At least that is what mine did…
Haha JRBunBun, Felony does the same thing. At night, when its dark, Felony turns into the magical ninja bunny. I usually have all the lights off when I’m getting ready for bed after I brush my teeth. I walk down the short hallway from the bathroom to the my bedroom, crack open the door to flip on the light. Suddenly, Ninja Felony comes flying out of the shadows darts around the door and feet, stop looks at me, then runs the under bed. As soon as I get down on the floor to shoo him from under the bed, he walks over to the door to be let out of the room. I swear he just loves to bug me.
I’d actually suggest that Rocky has a bit of English spot in his mix too. He has a bit of a line going down his back. Sarah, Oreo could well have alot of E spot in him. They’re at least 8 pounds. Maybe he’s a E spot hotot mix to but not the dwarf hotot. Pretty sure there’s a bigger hotot.
I like Oreo’s ‘bugger’, it’s like a Marilyn Monroe beauty mark! I never knew what the ‘periscoping’ thing was, but now I do! Now Rocky’s latest thing is to try to open the bedroom door… He’s gotten his taste of what it’s like under my bed and he just wants to go there! I was up last night watching American Idol and he just kept on pushing against the door and trying to fit his little head under it! I’d say ‘no’ and he’d stop for about 30 seconds and go at it again! ![]()
Hooty – what part of Pittsburgh do you live in? I’m originally from Mercer County in PA and lived in the burgh for 4 years before I moved out to NYC. I lived mostly in Oakland when I was in college but also spent a lot of time with some friends who lived in Squirrell Hill…
Jersey – I had suspected that he had English spot in him when I did research on what he could be. The rings around his eyes are not ‘neat’ like I see the pictures of most hotots, they’re very smudgy.
I’m so excited! I ordered a BUNCH of stuff from the binkybunny store and it should be delivered today!!!
I LOVE the BB.com Store!!! I just wish shipping wasn’t so high, but thats part of the economy today I suppose! Oh well, Oreo loves the hay so I must keep ordering!!! MUST make the “Master” happy ya know!!!!???? I agree jersey, I do think he has some english spot in him… She just told me he was an english spot. Oh well, like I said I really don’t care what he is… he’s my baby boy!!!! — The “bugger” does give him character!!!
Hey JRbunbun, I live on the side of Mt. Washington just above South Side next to the Liberty Tubes. I’m a pretty big fan of Oakland and Squirrel Hill, but you can’t beat the view from my house.
