Just want some opinions! So the vet said that Toby can’t have veggies/leaves/fruits until he is at least 4 months old. How old were your bunnies until you started feeding them these things? Whenever I let Toby run around the kitchen he runs directly to the veggies (onions) which gives me the feeling that he wants to start introducing these new foods to his diet. The vet said to continue feeding him pellets and hay until he’s old enough so that is what I am doing for now  He is 2 months old

Wait until he is at least 3 months old and introduce very slowly. He wasn’t munching on greens while with his mom at a young age, so he doesn’t really have that to go on. Waiting until he’s older helps to develop the proper gut flora to digest greens and fruit. At 3 months you can start with somethkng gentle on the tummy like romaine, and give him a leaf of that every day for a few days and see what his poops are like. If there are any changes, wait until he’s 4 months and try again. If he’s fine with the romaine, try something different again for a few days and repeat the process. Start out with leafy greens until he’s a bit older. Save things like carrots and pepper until he’s 6 months old, like fruit, because they are higher in sugar. Avoid cabbage because it can cause gas in some bunnies. I believe there’s a bunny appropriate food list under the info section here.

Rabbits don’t really know what’s best for them. Wick swears he wants to eat sausage and bacon but my goodness he’ll never get it, haha.

It’s great that the curiosity is there, but as a responsible owner, don’t give in until you know his body is ready, not just when he says he’s ready.

Also onions are poisonous to bunnies, so make sure he doesn’t get to the onions.

This is a resource from the house rabbit society. I highly recommend checking any veggie against this list before you offer it to Toby. As S&L pointed out, onions are a no-go. There are lots of fruits that they can have, but be sure to familiarize yourself with this list because some fruits have skins/seeds that are not safe for bunnies to eat even though the actual fruit is ok.
