Respiratory infection

Hi everyone,

I’ve just taken Joey to the vet this past Wednesday, and he has been diagnosed with an infection in his throat. My vet gave us antibiotics to try for two weeks to see if anything improves. Does anyone have any experience with treating a respiratory infection? I’m wondering if there’s anything else I can do for him to make him feel better. I’m on winter break, so I usually hang out in his rabbit room to make sure he’s ok during the day, but I hate just sitting there not being able to do anything else. Also, what could I do to prevent it from coming back? I’ve been giving him the antibiotics twice a day (as the vet ordered); once an hour or so after he eats his morning pellets, and once before he eats his veggies for dinner. Would the water from the veggies (I usually give him romaine lettuce and green pepper, a little parsley) dilute the antibiotics? And is it ok to give the meds near feeding time?

Depending on the antibiotics, it should be ok to give before/after feeding like you have been. The water shouldnt cause any problems. (((((VIBES)))))
