  So, one of the local shelters just received 42 rabbits in from one owner it sounds like.
  
  They are not ready to go yet as they are being vetted and sterilized before going up for adoption. My husband and I have talked about getting Roza a new companion before this, and we are thinking this may be the sign it is time. Roza will be 3 years old in April and did have a male companion that passed away before she came to live with us last January, so we are trying to figure out who would be the best bun to match her up with. Should we get a male? I think they are all babies and I am hoping that this will make it easier for the bonding process. Any help/info with this would be great!

  The sex/age of the bunny is not as important as the individual compatibility of the rabbits. If your shelter allows it, you might consider bringing your bunny in for “speed dating” to see which bun she gets along best with.

  They transferred most of the bunnies to other no-kill shelters/rescues from what I have been told. So, there are only six of them left at our shelter. They may all be adopted before we get a chance to go see them, which will just mean it wasn’t time for her to have a new mate.
  
  I will inquire about the speed dating as I am so afraid that she will hate whoever I bring home. We have the room to house two of them separately, it’s just the intention is to get her a companion.

  I saw the Alert go out for fosters and shelters for those. I think they were mostly angora’s
  Sadly I am in Australia and unable to help so I was glad to see they were getting fast and positive responses.

  It sounded like it was a variety of breeds, but most were Netherland Dwarfs. It wasn’t just bunnies that came in for this one. They have quite a number of rats as well. We have a pretty great network of people in the Midwest that work so well together when it comes to rescuing animals. All of this group will find good homes. I just wish it wasn’t a needed service.
