So my buns and I have been doing great, we’ve had no more problems up till now. I came into the room to say goodnight and noticed Thumper, my one year old male, had an accident. When I looks closer, it wasn’t the normal pee I see come from him. It was dark orangey red. Horrified, I cleaned it all up. I’ve also noticed he has stopped drinking. He may take a few gulps here and there but that is it! Not sure if this is an emergency vet visit or if I should just keep a watchful eye on him.

Reddish orange bunny pee is totally normal. Their urine changes color based on what they eat and how they metabolize it. I really wouldn’t worry if he seems comfortable, happy and is eating.
My bun only has orange pee. That was a new thing for him at 8yrs.

My vet states this urine is normal. If it is blood it would appear as a speck, more so than the entire fluid. Mine don’t drink much either ( that I see ) but they eat a lot of fresh greens. If yours is eating greens it wouldn’t be such a concern I would think ?

I was reading that it is normal for this type of urine at the first cold snap also. Not sure of the validity of that though.

Hopefully others can contribute. I’d not be running to the vet myself. I do know the color is cause for distress though, I felt the same way.

Yup! What vegetables have been on the menu lately?

Don’t freak out-if you see other symptoms -see a vet. But bunny pee can be all different colors and nothing to worry about.

Let’s see, he has had collard greens, dill, parsley, cilantro, kale and, romaine lately

Collard greens and kale will for sure produce orange pee. I know those are high in carotene.
