So, I was waiting to resume doing the Advantage treatment on Kuro (usually 10th of month) cause we stopped in september but vet adviced to continue until at least november.

Right now I was playing with him and noticed on the external rim of one ear, close to the base, that the skin is very red. Only in that spot. Internal ear is fine, other ear is fine, absolutely no fur loss. There is a tiny amount  of skin flakes (he is also pushing out his winter fur).

Of course I just put Advantage on him and treated the reddened patch with olive oil (our new all-time saviour). After the oil it already looks less inflamed.

So my question is… what is this? a mosquito bite? But there are no lumps. Maybe he just got too scratchy on that ear? But I am pretty sure he hasn’t been scratching excessively cause I am observing him very close these days… Any ideas?

EDIT: added pic. Hair is clumped cause of olive oil

It does look like an area he may have scratched at. That is certainly the spot they do scratch with the hind foot too. Refresh my memory, what are you treating him for? Sorry, my memory isn’t what it used to be. : (

Did he have fleas or is this to prevent them if they are in an area where he goes?

He’s having Advantage for precaution because he does get on the terrace every now and then and the vet is worried about hay-carried parasites. The weather is still on the hot side, so he adviced to continue the treatment until november at least.

It’s the base of the ear so yes, that’s where his big foot hits… Actually, he moved around a lot when the vet did his nails and a couple remained sort of pointy. I didn’t correct them because he was very very stressed and I thought he’d bite them smooth as he usually does (he clips his own nails when they bother him lol)
Maybe he hurt himself because of oddly shaped nail tips? It’s still very much like in yesterday’s pic.

Sometimes Chewie scratches that exact spot with so much vigour that it makes me cringe in anticipation of pain. I suspect a rogue foot nail is the culprit.

I think it really was that… lol I freaked out too soon XD this one likes to keep me on my toes

EDIT: found the faulty nail. He let me file it down with my nail file… I’m speechless lol

The little Lord knows what’s good for him. Besides, all royals and despots enjoy having a body slave.
