For a while my bunny has had these little red spots or sores, one on each of her back feet. My friend seems to think they look like pads, like a cat has pads on their feet. She’s had them for a while and they don’t seem to bother her. She walks normally and still stands on her hind legs. But I’m just curious if they are sores what to do? Or if it’s normal? Thanks!?

Most bunnies have pink, bald callousy spots on their back feet. If they are pink and hard, that is fine. If they are red, inflammed, cracked or bleeding, they are called sore hocks and can be painful and become infected. Sore hocks can be caused by improper flooring, overweight or uneven weight distribution or overgrown nails. Rex bunnies tend to be more prone to having these as they don’t have much fur on their back feet.

Does it sound like your bunny has sore hocks or just callouses? What is your bunny’s flooring like?
