        Hello everybunny,

My Josi was spayed a bit over a week ago (on Tuesday), so it’s been 9 days. The vert said everything was ok and they kept her overnight (they keep all females overnight) and we got 4 different meds for 7 days. Her stitches look fine.

She walks/hops strangely… like on tip toes, I haven’t seen any running around, and she has been kept in her play pen most of the time. Should she be walking/hopping normally by now? How long does it take for her to fully recover?

Also her appetite is much lower than before spay. She used to be such a piggy. She is eating but just less and doesn’t have her food enhusiasm like she used to have. I’m worried something is wrong, or does she just need more time? A week probably isn’t long enough. I just want my baby to be ok.

She also spends a lot of time just sitting or resting… doesn’t seem to have the energy she used to have.

I would be so grateful for some of your input on this and the length of the recovery of your female rabbits.

Hmm, I think it takes two weeks for females to fully heal. Having said that, I would have thought after 9 days she’d have been almost back to normal. Do you think she’s still a bit uncomfortable? Maybe she needs pain relief for a bit longer? My Buttercup recovered very quickly (in a matter of days) but I kept her somewhat confined for about a week or so.

Her appetite for pellets took a couple of weeks to return – She ate them but not with as much enthusiasm.
