Miss Lola got spayed on Thursday and is seems to be recovering quickly much to my relief. When she first came back home she wouldn’t eat anything except dried cranberries and she wouldn’t poop which was concerning but by the next morning there was poop everywhere and she’s almost completely back to her normal appetite! She also wants to play but of course I’m keeping her in the smaller cage without toys for at least a few more days. My vet has been wonderful and was honest about the fact that she’s never done a spay on a rabbit as large as Lola (she’s 16lbs) and the vet has already called twice to check in on how my girl is doing and if her appetite is better.

I’ve been such a nervous wreck over this spay and had put it off for a long time but as Lola is going to be a year old next month and I would like to eventually have her and Cotton bonded I figured I should just get it over with. My only problem that I’ve had is that I really struggle to see how her incision is doing as I don’t really want to lift her up right now, don’t want her to struggle and tear the stitches, but there’s really no other way to take a look at them. Any advice for how to check it out? Oh and a happy early Easter to all!

I’m glad she seems to be recovering well! Eating and pooping are the important signs!

Will she stand up on her hind legs for a treat? obviously don’t make her stretch too far, but you should be able to get a reasonable look that way have you seen her fiddling with it at all? If she’s ignoring it that’s another good sign

Also I would LOVE to see 16 pound rabbit photos! I have teeny two pounders
