        Hey!

I just spayed my rabbit this morning and everything went well and smooth till we got home. I had the same experience from that one time when she had some fungal issues: she just hates medecine. The thing is not only giving her the medecine is a problem, but she also hates when I try to clean the stitches, which I’ll have to do twice a day… I tried to lift her front up just like the vet did, but she just freaked out and ran away lumping, and didn’t let me get close to her for a while. I feel so bad and guilty for making her suffer, but she needs the medecine and the clean wound T_T is there a way to hold her or something so she doesn’t freak out so badly?

It’s unusual to have to clean the stitches yourself – I’ve never heard of that before, and haven’t done it myself.

For medicine, you can try wrapping her up in a towel, a ‘bunny burrito’, which should help keep her restrained while you give her the medicine. Try and get it into the side of her mouth. If it doesn’t all go in, they generally will lick it off themselves. Remember to give her a good treat, like a small piece of apple, after.

I also found that one of my bunnies who hates being lifted up for medicine, will happily lick it out of a syringe if we leave him in his hutch and offer it to him there. Sometimes its the picking up that they hate.

You shouldnt have to clean the wound; that will heavily irritate it and could cause infection. Its very abnormal your vet would advise it. Are you sure your vet was certified to work on rabbits?

My three like medicine mixed with a little bit of (sugar free/no sugar added) cranberry or apple juice. You can try adding the medicine onto greens as well, then hand feeding them to her.
