Hey guys Im really stumped and in need of some insight.
Philomena (1year old dwarf mix spayed) started leaking some clear liquid from her backside (possibly rectal or urinary tract, I can’t tell for certain). This stuff has no odor or color sometimes there’s a little bit of jelly or mucus with it but not much. Seriously it’s just like water. She is pretty well litter box trained (we’ve been having issues with her not liking the litterbox in her playroom so she pees right next to it) but she never pees in random spots like this. Her behavior has been normal, she was really active and in a good mood last night. She just got through a GI stasis and has been doing well.
I’m already strongly considering taking her to the vet although I’m hesitant because I have already taken her to the vet once a week for the past two weeks and I think making her go through a 3rd visit would just be too stressful. The first time was because she had some irregular poops which is fairly normal for her but something just seemed a bit off this time so better safe than sorry. This visit turned out to be nothing even with a fecal examination. She was completely healthy (aside from her busted lip from when she jumped from my arms because she didn’t like the vet touching her). The second visit was because I noticed that she stopped pooping and then stopped eating (she wasn’t even enticed by her yogurt treats which I use for emergency maneuvers). The vet declared it stasis and gave me medication to help treat it. She’s been having fairly normal bowel movements with improvements everyday. Her appetite is back and has been eating timothy like there’s no tomorrow.
I understand that a vet visit is going to be the best route and I plan on taking her tomorrow but I would like to have an idea as to what is going on. Has anyone experienced this before? Is this just part of the recovery process for GI stasis? Is it possible that this will just clear up on it’s own because it seems to have stopped? I’m going to be up all night with homework so I’m going to be keeping an eye on her and she’s not allowed to play in the room today (she has an exercise pen attached to her cage) so I can monitor her mystery liquid output.
Any help is greatly appreciatied
