Does anyone remember Raggedy Ann and Andy and their dog, Arthur? (I know, loaded question as that dates me pretty much.)

When my kids were small, they taped just about every show off Disney Channel they could, and one they watched over and over was a full length movie about the two dolls in a strange world where they met and befriended a Raggedy Camel.

My daughter and I were reminiscing about this the other night. And last night she gifted me with this sketch, which she plans to color up for me. I’m going to frame it and put in on the wall in the bunnies’ room.

So cute! I wish I could sew well, I’d make a trio of plushies that look like them! Can you tell who’s who?

        (HINT: Pip, Fiver, Mimzy…lol!)

                  So here’s the finished product…

And it got me thinking. Didn’t SaveABunny (or perhaps one of our other rescues) have an Etsy store (or something on their website) where they were selling what appeared to be second hand plush toys and jewelry and such with rabbit themes? It appeared to be a fundraiser type of thing.

I was thinking of doing something like that myself. Using these little darlings as my banner for the store (online or a physical one in one of our buildings up here) that I could donate a portion of my proceeds to rabbit rescue. (I buy from a lady on Ebay who donates to her local rescue from her store.)

Is it very hard to line up with shelters or rescues for that sort of thing?

My husband had at one time had portions of the proceeds from his Alaska museum going to the Interior Cancer Society, but it was never made a solid 501 C3 or whatever the designation is for charity. (too much paperwork) Does anyone here have any ideas as to how to go about setting up a store that sends donations for specific causes?

That’s a great idea for donating to a shelter too!
Sorry idk anything about setting up so I’m obv no help there…
                    ..but good luck!! (:

Save A Bunny has a few stores. Here are two of them:

                      http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=102036
                      http://www.cafepress.com/saveabunny/

I hope to set up an Etsy store and give a percentage to my shelter. The Etsy store takes about 5 minutes to set up & any business can donate a percent of their sales.

Mimz- How old is your daughter again? She has some serious talent! I am so jealous!

I had a 4ft tall raggedy Ann doll when I was little that I made my mom keep in her room because I was always afraid she would come to life when I was sleeping! lol

I looked into doing etsy but they take portion of what you make and you have to pay for all the stuff you put on there…kinda confusing..

That picture is awesome!!!! I wish I could draw like that!

I’ve actually had the same idea for an etsy store. I do tons of crafts and would definetly donate to a rabbit shelter or my local spca. Just need some time to sit down and work out the details. I love Etsy. I can spend hours on that site just browsing.

Hedi: My daughter is 17. And she wasn’t always as prolific and accomplished an artist as she has been in the last five years or so. She used to get so mad at me because I could draw things just by looking at them and make small pictures bigger and such. Now she absolutely spanks me when it comes to drawing. I can’t hold a candle to her! ^_^
I also had one of those enormous dolls. My mom got it for me one Christmas, but she became an antique dealer later in life and then one day my doll disappeared. I suspect it went in her store for some card playing money. Kinda sad, but I didn’t play with it all that much anyway.

Wherever and whenever I finally decide to set up shop, it’s going to probably take a credit card and I’ve closed all of mine down. (Except for the nice late charge I was assessed on paying off my balance lately-even though I KNOW it got there on time…jerks!) >_<
