        Seriously – see this:  http://denver.cbslocal.com/2013/02/14/dia-parking-lots-consider-measures-to-stop-bunnies-from-attacking-cars/

It sounds as if they have been trying to control the bunnies from getting into the parking lot by non-harmful means but now they are gonig to start putting in predator bird perches. We don’t like that!

I saw that and immediately thought poor bunnies were just looking for some warmth and food, its not their fault!!! I just hope they don’t act to inhumane towards them.

Putting in raptor perches actually sounded like a good idea. Circle of life and all. Its much better than poison or catch and sedate IMO.

This is a huge problem. My mom car while parked at DIA got the spark plug chew through by rabbits twice. The raptor perches is a great idea.

I am happy at least they are trying to scare them off and not to whip them out.

Are they wild rabbits or domestic bunnies? They didn’t look like the wild rabbits we have here. You would think if it was a domestic rabbit they would try and get a rescue or shelter involved. Hopefully the bunnies can stay safe and not get hurt.

I hate to see rabbits killed for any reason, but because they’re being destructive pests, it has to be done, then I’d rather the natural predators come in to control the population. It’s a lot better than trapping/poison/other inhumane ways. I’d rather see the “circle of life” than the destruction of it.

I’m getting so tired of hearing of all these feral rabbit populations. I don’t’ get what is with these cities-they leave it until it’s an issue and then try to deal with it in a disgusting manner. The issue in my mind is they have no trouble going lethal and spending money to do so, but giving money to a humane organization is out of the question. Why not give some money to willing shelters, and fund raise for some more help-I bet a few organizations would be very willing to help!
There is currently a close to home issue I’m a bit fed up with so this is near and dear.
                          UGH!

I don’t think the rabbits have been dumped. I saw some wild rabbits in Colorado when I was there a couple years ago. They looked like the rabbits shown in the video. What makes you think the rabbits have been dumped? I know there is a wildlife area not far from there. The rabbits could be coming over from there. Perhaps there is a reason they are seeking out warmth and shelter there. Maybe something is going on in their habitat.

I wonder if it has occurred to the to drop hay in the rabbits natural habitat to draw them back to their home. But I suppose that would increase breeding which means more rabbits which means less food to go round which ends up with more rabbits in the carpark. HEADACHE… I need to stop thinking for a few hours.

The ones showed in the pics are native to the area, I am still sure some dumping goes on, but this is a natural population. not like the poor buns in BC that you see on Bandaids for Bunnies. I am all for bunny rights, but they do have to protect their property as long as they are not cruel and unjust to the population of rabbits there. I know it is a hard fact, but that is why we have the circle of life to protect all animals not just one… predators die and become the grass, bunnies eat the grass, and predators eat the bunnies… not a happy thing but life will go on…
