Rabbits at the fair

Today I went to the fair to work at our church’s taco stand.

So I decided to walk around with my friend, Alyssa. So we went to some games and played them then I hear a micro phone and this boy screams “WOULD YOU TWO GIRLS WANT TO WIN A RABBIT?” I look over and saw 2 rabbits in a tiny wire cage. Not to mention that it is almost 100 degrees out. I was like “NO!” And I was so upset! They are giving these rabbits to whatever redneck wins them.  Why do they have to do that?! GAHHHH I was thinking about how there are thousands of bunnies in shelters. On of the reasons, is because you get a ring on a bottle. Has anyone else had to deal like such a sick situation like this?!

They do that at most fairs and it is sick, yes. Most traveling fairs are HORRIBLE to animals – some even have ponies, some even have exotic animals such as large cats (pay $10 take a picture with a lion cub!) … which is why I generally avoid such places. :s Given the heat though you could probably call the abuse hotline in your area about it.

Well I am forced to go back and work again. I have to. plus I am running my race at the same place. Today I think it was like 93 degrees today. This was about noon. God knows how hot it was later. Given where I live the hottest times of the day are usually 2-4 pm.

I don’t ever remember them having rabbits you could win at my fair. They had a goldfish game where you could win a 25 cent “feeder” fish. Twenty fish would equal a little lizard. =\
They always had 4H rabbits in this one barn though and I remember thinking it was terribly hot in there. =(

Why don’t you ask if you can talk to whoever is in charge?

… Anyway, talk to the church’s coordinator about it in a professional manner.

So today I went back, I ran my half marathon and got 3rd place! I got a little medal and my time was 54.7! I am proud of myself
Anyway about the bunny situation… I went back and was gonna talk to who was in charge, but I didn’t see any rabbits there. Only fish.
Don’t know if someone else talked to them or what. But noone was standing there for me to talk to. I may go back tomorrow. I WILL find someone to talk to. This is NOT going to just go away. I should’ve took a picture! *face palm*

You should talk to them about the fish, as well.

I have only seen fish at fairs myself, you would think that they wouldn’t allow people to win animals that require such a commitment. I don’t think it’s even right to win live fish, prizes should only be non-living items or stuffed animals.

I would be terribly upset at that situation! Is your church in charge of the whole event? You need to talk to whoever is running things.

And great job on the race! I hate running, but my boyfriend is a runner, and I think its very impressive when people can run like that! I wish I was a runner, but I’m more of a biker
