        Hi All!

I’m new here… we just got Lola in October and yesterday was the big spay… dropped her off at 8am and picked her up at 4…

Vet said she did well, and was eating as she was recovering. Send us home with some pain meds.

She has been super lethargic, and will eat but it’s mostly only her hay she wants and only a leaf here and there and one or two crunchy treats.

She was drinking water numerous times through the night and this morning (yes I slept right outside of her cage ?) but I’ve yet to see evidence of pee or poop. It’s now 11:30am the following morning, and she’s just laying down. I was able to successfully give her the pain meds, and she’s still eating a little hay but has no interest in any greens that she normally devours or any of her pellets.

I am very concerned about the lack of pee or poop. I just sent my boyfriend to the store for a different assortment of veggies and for some pedialyte.

        Does anyone have any suggestions??

        Thank you so much!

Awwww, great that she is eating! But there is that pesky poop problem… I would say to continue to offer veggies, but if she doesn’t start pooping soon you may need to syringe feed her some critical care. My girl didn’t really start eating until the next day, and her poops were very sparse because of that. Since it’s been over 12 hours with no poop, I might suggest that you try to syringe feed her some critical care. If you can’t get that, you can mash up some pellets in a bit of water to form a sort of pasty sludge… she will probably fight the syringe, but she needs to get some more food in and start pumping out the poops!

Can you let her out of the cage in an area that blocks access to anything she can jump on? If she can hop around some it might help to get her gut moving.

Also, did she get pain meds last night? I could not get my girl to take them the night of, but she took it the next day and I noticed a dramatic improvement! So if this is her first dose of the pain meds, you might see her starting to perk back up!
