Awhile ago i noticed that my bunnys eye (only 1), was watering. I checked on it the next day noticed it had gotten milky so i went to the vet as soon as possible. He was acting fine and eating well but i wanted to take him in anyways. The vet checked his eye and teeth and everything out and asked some questions, then she gave us some eye drops and told us what to do with them and if it doesnt work come back and she’ll do so more stressful tests because she didnt find anything through the exam. We did the eye drops and it cleared up for a couple of days but even doing the drops his eye was watering a lot. Im guessing because the drops were flushing it out. But the watery eye continues, we will notice those milky tears every couple of days but go away quickly. they are not thick or anything and i read on house rabbit society that rabbit tears can be clear or milky so im not sure to be concerned or not. I also read that rabbits can have chronic watery eyes and dont know if thats the case. I took him to the vet over a month ago and there has been no change in anything. He is still very active and eats extremely well. I havent really noticed any fur loss. I will notice that his eye is red some times and ill put a eye drop in because i have some left over and the redness will be gone in 10 mins or so. I will also notice that the fur around the eye will get clumpy from the constant dry to wet situation so ill use a wet cloth and he sits very nicely for me to clean everything. He dosen’t at all mind me pressing on the area or anything. I also think i need to mention that he is a 1 year old holland lop because ive also read that there is a chance that they have tear duct issues. Sorry if this was confusing its just a lot of info to include because i cant find anything that gives me answers. Should i keep putting him through the vet and test if he is happy and after so long hasnt gotten worse? Could this just be chronic and will always be around? Is there anything that i can do? Does anyone know anything about this? I feel like if it was something really serious i would have noticed some other symptom by now. Thanks all!
