Hi, I’m from Poland and do not really know English.
I am taking care of the bunny, who is suspected of megacolon. Symptoms agree, we still have a X-ray contrast. Is there any professional literature, from which I can learn something more about this disease? Unfortunately, in Poland I have not found a rabbit suffering from the disease. I read already threads on this forum, I saw that there is a group on Facebook. Unfortunately I can not find her, if anyone knows anything about it?

Have you tried sending a PM to Redbunbun, our member who wrote so much about her megacolon bunny Sukka? This is a link to her bio, you can click on “contact” and send her a PM and if it’s still coupled to her private e-mail, she’ll get it. https://binkybunny.com/MyProfile/tabid/175/asuid/22326/Default.aspx

She had a lot of contact with a very interested vet and she did lots of research. She had Sukka on a high-fiber diet and always kept motility drugs at home.

Megacolon is a very variable condition. It’s genetic and in white rabbits with black spots, it has been linked to mutations affecting the KIT-gene. The KIT gene both controls the spotted fur-pattern and the innervation of the colon + the function of certain cells that stimulates contraction of the smooth muscle in the intestinal walls.

Unfortunately, the last time on the forum, she was two weeks ago. I was hoping that someone will know this group on Facebook because I wanted to be in constant contact with people who have sick rabbits. Winter is chronically ill. She also has E.C., we suspect that the first attack E.C had something to do with megacolon. Winter gets the current Pro-Fibre, herbs and hay. She also gets Cisapridum. This is just the beginning, so if nothing else gets. Soon we are going to control, so I would know what to ask the vet.

Redbunbun has a public Instagram account, her handle is @effelants. She hasn’t been active since April, but she links to her homepage from there, heffalumps.net. There is a link to her e-mail there, you could try and contact her via that.
