Rabbit Urine

Hi All 

I noticed my male 3 month old mini lop had orange urine more so today but has had it for three days, i also read that feeding to much kale which is something i do as its high in calcium it can cause orange urine. He is normal in character drinking and eating as normal his drinking a little bit more then usual but still the same nothing of worry.

Just wondering what it could be ?

Orange urine is normal no worries! Too much kale can cause excess calcium, which is apparent by cloudy, powdery-when-dry pee. That pee as well isn’t worrisome (excess calcium is leaving), but if it’s really frequent, cut down on high calcium foods.

Mine have orange urine sometimes, depending on what veggies they have had. It’s really normal and nothing to worry about

Rabbit pee comes in a variety of colors. It has to do with what the rabbit eats, but orange/red pee can also occur spontaneously. For some as of yet unknown reason, orange pee is common after the first cold spell in the fall.

If you want to make sure it’s not blood, you can pour a little bit of hydrogen peroxide on a spot of red urine. If it’s blood, it will foam. If it’s just orange pee, no foam. Forumleader Jerseygirl recently tested this herself, and it works.

My Bombur has a deep orange pee. Its normal and perfectly ok
