        Hello,

I have an almost 4 year old Jersey wooly rabbit named Kendyll. She has always been good about using her litter box, until recently. She has always had a large pen area, never confined to small spaces, and for the last few months she has been living on my bed. I know that might sound weird, but she loves it! Her litter box, food, water, and toys are all on my bed, as well as lots of blankets. She has been digging a lot more recently and urinating on the blankets, all in different spots. It usually isn’t a lot, and I’m wondering if its medical, such as a UTI, or behavioral. I’m not sure if the sudden increase in digging is related or not. I’ve just put paper on the bottom of her litter box so I can see what her urine looks like. I would really just like to figure out what’s going on! Thanks so much, here’s some pictures of Kendyll!

If it is medical, only a vet would be able to tell. I would take any rabbit to a vet who has a change in litter habits, to rule out health. Some bunnies love to pee on soft things. Is she spayed? She might just have discovered her new favorite dig-toy. I don’t allow my bunnies on the bed or couch, because I know that 2 of them will see it as their new favorite pee spot.

Yes, she is spayed. She always has either towels or blankets in her cage too, so I didn’t think that would affect anything. I am probably going to take her to the vet, just to rule out anything medical!

Towels and blanket might not qualify as soft pee-able things in her mind. My bunnies that pee on soft things have peed on chair cushions, and fleece, but never blankets or towels. Those they see as toys to dig at, nibble on, and rearrange.

Took her to the vet, she had a UTI. Everything is good now, no more accidents.

Fantastic! I’m always glad to hear when members take their rabbits to the vet and get the health problem fixed!
