Rabbit Skin Issues

Hey All!
So awhile back I noticed my rabbit seemed to be getting flakes in his skin. When giving him a rub, I noticed bumps on his skin. Upon further inspection, they kind of looked like bite marks.

Recently my partner and I took in a new rabbit, so I figured it may be marks from them nipping at one another.. until I noticed that when his hair comes out, there is skin attached to it. 

We have checked the other rabbit for fleas and/or mites but she has no marks or hair coming out of her with skin like our male does.

I thought it was mites at first, but I’ve never experienced this, so I thought maybe some other bunny owners would be able to give input?

I also noticed little bugs coming out from our hay that we purchase. Ever since I noticed that, I have also been receiving bites. We have checked for bed bugs obviously with nothing to be found.

I pasted your pics into your post or else people can’t wiew them if they’re “binkying” from a phone.

It doesn’t sound nice at all. Wherabouts in the world are you (generally speaking, there are not the ssame bugs in Australia as in the USA etc.)?

Could it be grain beetles? They are very common.

You should of course get rid of the hay and clean the bunny-room.

If you suspect mites or that the beetles are biting your bun there is an excellent anti-parasitic for bunnies, Revolution (Selamectin). In most countries except Australia you need a vet to prescribe it. It’s the type for kittens that should be used. It’s very bunny safe and effective.
