  Hey all,
  
  Just got my 5 month old lop neutered the other day. He’s been doing fine and the surgery went well. His scrotum has been rather swollen though, however this hasn’t been problematic otherwise. However, he has continued to mount a lot of things around the room. I got concerned, however, when he was started to get a bit obsessive and was humping every pillow, toy, and rail in sight. I checked to see if there was anything wrong and noticed that there was bleeding around where he was neutered. One side was a bit raw, and the other had a small nick at the top of the stitches with a bit of blood leaking out of the top. I have since taken away everything he was mounting, cleaned him off, monitored the bleeding, and put him in his cage for the time being. It is extremely late here and I can’t contact my vet, but am incredibly scared. He seems to have calmed down and doesn’t appear to be in much pain at the moment, but I am so worried it could cause huge complications. What do you all recommend?

  Here is a photo. You can see the rawness on it. The other one you can’t really see but is less raw but has the nick on the side.

  You should limit his space so he can’t hurt himself.

  You’ll want to set up a pen or space that doesn’t have anything he can mount. He should not be roaming the entire area he did pre-neuter— limit and remove any climbable or humpable objects. Continue to check the suture daily, and let your vet know when possible.
